Executive Summary
At time of publication, respondents have provided approximately 80 submissions. This committee's reported investable assets total $1,494,900.
Note that these are minimum values calculated using the lower bound of the “250k+” category. The actual total available could be significantly higher.
We also cannot discount the possibility that the 11% of respondents who reported an interest in money laundering may be systematically underreporting available assets.
Financial Picture
These assets are equal to 3% of the assessed $48,871,200 value of the central property lot. This central lot contains most of the residential and community structures best suited to the most commonly preferred use of our upcoming purchase, “utopian commune”.
While commercial real estate purchases often involve a high degree of debt financing, one might anticipate issues with credit availability given the particulars of the proposal. Securing additional investment funding, then, is a priority.
More positively, the property lots containing the library, the classroom complex, and the athletic and arts centers have an assessed value that is comfortably within the current budget. These are key assets to support our second most commonly preferred use, “early college”.
This disparity in valuation raises concerns about the accuracy of the figures. Getting credible estimates of the campus's market value must be a key priority as we proceed.
Key Considerations
It should be emphasized, at this early stage of our upcoming purchase, that expense per se is a secondary matter to the question of value. With sufficient motivation and coordination, no plausible cost would present an insurmountable barrier to the realization of our goals.
In the interest of developing that coordination, respondents are invited to peruse the summary data provided below, and reflect on their place in the mission.
